miniOrange Secure MCP Server takes a slightly different approach, every AI client you connect gets registered as its own identity, called an NHI (Networked Human Identity), with its own scoped permissions.
What is an NHI?
Short for Networked Human Identity, it is just a named, scoped connection profile. One NHI might allow Claude to edit posts but not manage users, while another NHI for a different client gets a completely different ability list, all on the same site.
- In WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New, search for “miniOrange Secure MCP Connector”, install and activate it.
- Open Secure MCP Connector from the admin menu.
- Go to the NHI Registry tab and click Register your first NHI.
- Give it a descriptive name, for example “Claude, content editing”, and choose exactly which abilities each WordPress user role is allowed to use.
- Click Create & Continue.
- Select Connect your AI client and copy either the miniOrange Gateway URL and Site URL, or the direct MCP Endpoint URL, whichever method your client uses.
Your WordPress site needs a publicly accessible HTTPS URL, localhost and private networks are not supported.
